BlackBerry's BBM Enterprise SDK allows developers to integrate secure messaging, voice and video capabilities into their applications and services.
Scheduled to be available worldwide this month, the BBM Enterprise SDK provides enterprises and developers with APIs that can be used to enhance business processes.
BBM Enterprise SDK takes advantage of BlackBerry's expertise to provide the highest level of security for messages, voice, and video for iOS and Android apps, company officials said.
Its capabilities include secure 1:1 and group messaging, secure voice and video communications, secure file sharing and collaboration, and secure real-time notifications.
{loadposition stephen08}Using BlackBerry's communications PaaS means developers can focus on their applications and services, achieve scalability, and avoid upfront hardware costs, according to the company.
"We are constantly innovating and looking for ways to leverage our legacy and expertise in secure mobility to solve real business problems," said BlackBerry COO Marty Beard.
"We are opening up a new revenue stream for the company with a fully cloud-based communication service that is designed to help developers, ISVs, and enterprises meet the most demanding security and compliance requirements."
An unspecified number of BlackBerry's developer partners are ready to use the BBM Enterprise SDK when it becomes available, according to company officials.
