To celebrate the launch of the new Mate 9, Huawei is challenging nine contestants to take nine challenges in nine hours to win a cash prize of $9000 and a new Mate 9.
The ostensible purpose is to outlast the phone (iTWire first looks here) – and with a huge 4000mAh battery that won’t be easy. Huawei says, “Gone are the days of low battery alerts whilst you’re streaming Netflix, stalking on Instagram, swiping right on Tinder and FaceTiming your mates, as the HUAWEI Mate 9 will ALWAYS BE ON – one full charge will give you 20 hours of video playback, 20 hours of browsing, 30 hours of 3G voice call and 105 hours of music playback.”
Contestants will be competing in nine separate challenges over nine hours, all the while using one hand for the Mate 9 and placing the other hand on large Mate 9 letters. The challenges will all involve the phone in some way, whether it’s karaoke, a game of trivia where contestants can research the answers, or taking the most selfies with members of the public in one hour.
