Late last year Netflix opened up its app to allow for download for offline viewing. While aimed at desktop use its popularity on Android and iOS devices has been high.
But the problem is that most smartphones and tablets only have 16 or 32GB storage and there is precious little left over for an HD movie that consumes about 7GB – OK SD quality only takes 1.5GB.
Its new version for Android now supports microSD storage and playback but already Apple iOS users are protesting – there is no support for microSD on any iOS device!
Note that content is only playable via the Netflix app and offline content is time limited so you won’t be able to store movies or shows on microSD and just leave them there to watch much later.
