NexDock will provide a range of chassis for Intel’s new modular compute cards at a fraction of the cost of a full-blown device.
About a year ago, iTWire wrote about NexDock and its use of the Microsoft Lumia 950/XL and Windows 10 Continuum feature to power a range of notebooks, tablets and desktops. Good idea, but Microsoft’s recent announcement that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 will support Windows 10 and x86 apps means that was a limited market – about 3000 units were shipped.
NexDock is now going to support Intel’s new Compute Card which the company believes will have a longer future.
As well as a dock for the Compute Card, NexDock will have a range of interchangeable USB-C modules – the extra battery, Office connectivity and more.
It will also provide a two-in-one hybrid design – tablet and laptop in one in Polycarbonate and Aluminium 4K models. After that, it may extend to desktops and other devices.
