Tech21 cock-a-hoop over snazzy Chinese New Year iPhone case

2017 is the Chinese ‘Year of the Rooster’, and Tech21 is crowing loudly over its nifty new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus case design by ‘eminent Chinese pop artist’ Jacky Tsai.

If you’ve got an iPhone 6, 6s, 7 or the respective Plus versions, and you want to add some Chinese New Year flair to your smartphone, while taking advantage of top-notch drop protection, then Tech21 wants you to take notice of its new 'Evo Elite Chinese New Year Edition case', specifically designed for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.

In general, iPhone 7 cases do fit the last two iPhone models, but if you choose to use an iPhone 7 case on an older size-compatible iPhone, you’ll notice a larger cutout in the camera area.

The case, which can be seen below, practically cries out ‘cock-a-doodle-doo’ with its vibrant imagery and colour, and is a clear testimony to the exquisite skill and artistry of Jacky Tsai, billed as ‘the eminent Chinese pop artist best known for creating Alexander McQueen’s iconic floral skull image in the Spring/Summer 2008 Menswear collection.’

The case is bused the ‘Evo Elite Chinese New Year Edition case for the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus’ as was ‘designed in partnership’ with Tsai, and is said to ‘combine traditional elements of folk paintings with a modern pop art style in celebration of Chinese New Year.’

Available ‘exclusively in selected Apple stores globally’ and at tech21, the Evo Elite Chinese New Year Edition retails for $69.95.

Naturally, it is a ‘limited edition case’, and uses ‘a unique, 4-layer 3D printing technique to apply a highly durable finish to the case and features 2 metre drop protection.’

Jacky Tsai said: “I wanted my new Chinese pop artwork to evoke feelings of happiness, warmth and peace associated with a New Year.

“The ‘Lucky Kid’ originates from the ‘Golden Boy’ in the Buddhist story of ‘The Goddess of Mercy’ and is a symbol of luck and wealth in Chinese folk custom.

“As a secondary symbol, the chickens subtly imply the ‘Year of the Rooster.’ And rather than just using a rooster, the newborn chicks symbolise energy, vitality, and family harmony."

Jason Roberts, CEO of tech21 said: “Art should be enjoyed and shared. It shouldn’t be hidden away but rather put on display where we can enjoy it as part of our everyday lives.

“Evo Elite Chinese New Year Edition enables you to carry a small piece of Chinese culture with you wherever you go, while offering unmatched impact protection.”

Tech21’s products, including the Evo Elite, offer the company’s ‘market-leading impact protection’ technology known as FlexShock, which you can read about here.

That said, FlexShock is described as ‘an ultra-efficient impact absorbing material designed to dissipate impact force,’ with the Evo Elite Chinese New Year Edition and FlexShock cases ‘rigorously tested to ensure perfect compatibility with the Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.’

Tech21 says its iPhone 7 and 7 Plus cases ‘guarantee a perfect fit [for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus], no interruption to signal quality and no interference to Wi-Fi, mobile networks, Bluetooth syncing or features such as Apple Pay. Core functionality, including the camera, acoustics and sensors (such as Touch ID) will work the same with the case on or off.’

The Apple Stores in Australia featuring this case are the Chadstone, Sydney, Chatswood Chase, Bondi, Doncaster and Brisbane stores for AUD$69.95, and are also on sale online at Apple.com and tech21.com.
