A set of new and forthcoming products from Citrix are aimed at helping the company's customers make the transition from traditional to cloud deployments.
Existing XenApp and XenDesktop licensees with subscription advantage or software maintenance will be able to use Citrix Cloud (formerly Citrix Workspace Cloud) "for not much more than the cost of renewing traditional software maintenance".
Organisations with Windows 10 Enterprise licensed on a per-user basis will be able to use XenDesktop Essentials to manage Windows 10 images on Azure via Citrix Cloud.
XenApp Essentials (available later this quarter) will allow the delivery of applications from Azure, again managed via Citrix Cloud.

Citrix is also introducing a number of pre-configured packages and capabilities under the Citrix Smart Tools brand (previously Citrix Lifecycle Management) to simplify and accelerate the rollout of new virtual application and desktop services.
Additionally, the Citrix Ready HCI Workspace Appliance Program enables hyperconverged appliances from hardware and storage partners to connect to Citrix Cloud to automate the setup and maintenance of XenApp and XenDesktop.
And new integration between Citrix NetScaler Unified Gateway and Microsoft Intune allows IT admins to check for compliance and the state of the end user device to enable policy-based access control and VPN capabilities to on-premises applications.
"With these products and services, Citrix and Microsoft are meeting partners and customers wherever they are on their journey to the cloud, whether they continue to keep IT infrastructure on-premises, or they are moving to hybrid cloud or public cloud deployments," said Citrix senior vice-president for products PJ Hough.
"Whether they are ready to go all-in on the cloud, or they want to deploy a single app in the cloud, we have the management platform and the services they need."
